Ghana’s Bishop Agbey Goes International with His Mcing Skills.
To be a master of ceremony requires some requisite skills especially getting the attention of people and getting them to do exactly what is expected of them.
Broadcast journalist Bishop Agbey Jnr is an expert who can get the crowd’s attention, a skill he has possessed over the years.
He recently engaged in a market activation for Penplusbytes.
Penplusbytes is a non-profit organization, established in 2001. It works with DW Akademie in spreading media and information literacy (MIL) in Ghana to encourage critical thinking and more security in digital spaces, a program which is organized in every October by Penplusbytes (PPB) in partnership with the German Media Development Organization, Deutsche Welle (DW) Akademie under the auspices of UNESCO Ghana
His skills as the Mc got the attention of the people and his satisfactory approach got them results with the theme “Think Critically, Click Wisely”.
The purpose of the activation is to tackle misinformation with regards to corona virus where there had been so many false information hovering around social media space making people scared.
“Vaccinations cause impotency, If you hold your breath for 60 seconds you can avoid getting COVID-19, these stories are all spread on social media in Ghana and they are all examples of misinformation. Bishop Agbey together with his team were able to get the attention of the people by playing a short radio drama over loudspeakers in Twi, Ga, Ewe, Hausa and English, which acted out a conversation repeating some of the common pieces of misinformation found online.
After an interactive explanation from broadcast journalist and media personality Bishop Agbey Jnr, an impromptu musical chairs & dance battle for a Penplusbytes t-shirt approach was executed, 26 volunteers approached the onlooking crowd with flyers in their hands. The flyers contained information on how to verify information online, explained in infographics and very little text.
Bishop Agbey has been one of the few people who has been professional and well noted for his result oriented approach as a Master of Ceremony ‘MC’.
