There are no structures in Nigeria’s entertainment industry. Hear me and hear me well, they don’t have plywood sef surrounding their music industry. All is azaa to win contracts from big big international companies who have crazy eyes for Africa.
This is what happens. When an act like say Gyakie or Blacko drops a huge hit song, we have thousands of multinational companies from FMCG to electronics to services operating in Africa often showing interest to either do digital activations or brand influencer activations with such acts. But because most of their top marketing executives are all none Ghanaians — they call each other and tell themselves, ‘our company want these Gh artistes for marketing activations for some bad cash. This money should never go to Ghana cos Naija no dey carry last. So
1. They first get a Naija act to collabo the GH hit song and get them to visit their hood and perform. So they can use tapes to convince board executives.
2. Call top Naija music labels and say we have 500k dollars in the offing for a GH act, if you can get me another act that does the same thing we can push it and share the rest.
3. So then what happens to the trends, the above project is executed, and there’s too much money to come to Ghana, visit a few music influencers in Ghana to give them 100 dollars each for them to scream “oh Nigerian acts pay, oh they pay”
4. Trust our Ghana people, 100 dollars and they will be everywhere hailing these Naija acts.
5. Remember, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Apple Music, Spotify, etc West and Sub Saharan offices are controlled by Nigerians, so it’s easier to trend. Well, go check TikTok, you will see #NaijaMusic, #NaijaComedy, #NaijFoodie and upcoming Naija acts and challenges dominating all the timelines of west African users except Kenya because their government did not permit it. They requested IG and TikTok to recruit Kenyan executives to man the Kenyan office cos they don’t trust Naija as our ministers do.
