Newly Elected Methodist University SRC Executives Hold First Meeting, Outline Vision for Students

Tema, Ghana — The newly elected Student Representative Council (SRC) Executives of Methodist University, led by SRC President-elect Mr. Darlington Agyekum, popularly known in the Ghanaian music scene as Dcryme, held their inaugural executive meeting at the Alisa Hotel in Tema.

The high-level meeting focused on shaping the new administration’s policies and addressing key challenges facing the university, particularly those affecting students’ academic experience.
During the session, Mr. Agyekum made a passionate appeal to corporate organizations and benevolent entities to support the SRC’s efforts to raise funds. He noted that several pressing issues—ranging from infrastructure to academic resources—are having a direct impact on student performance and well-being.
“Our aim is to make real, lasting improvements. The challenges are not just administrative—they affect the students’ ability to thrive academically,” he said.
Even prior to officially taking office, the current SRC team had already initiated impactful projects. These include the installation of a new administration board, dubbed the “Wall of Fame”, as well as providing the Nursing and Midwifery Department with specialized software to enhance their studies. Additionally, a television set was donated to the school as part of efforts to improve access to educational content.
Looking ahead, the executives revealed plans to partner with the university’s administration and admissions office to launch a robust marketing strategy aimed at increasing student enrollment.
“This is just the beginning,” Agyekum stated. “We are committed to serving the student body and ensuring Methodist University reaches its full potential.”
