BRIGHT MUMUNI LIFTS FLAG OF GHANA HIGH IN AN INTERNATIONAL LAW DEBATE
A Ghanaian law student by name Bright Mumuni-Aziz over the weekend made Ghana proud when he placed second in an international law debate contest.
The debate was organized to commemorate the second year anniversary of ASID Academy of International Law in collaboration with the University of Uganda.
The debate had “IS TORTURE EVER JUSTIFIED IN CASES OF NATIONAL SECURITY AND COUNTER TERRORISM” as its motion with participants drawn across Africa including; Rwanda, Uganda, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa. Mr. Bright Mumuni-Aziz spoke in favour of the motion while the rest spoke against.
The contest had Professor Chiowa Orizu, Lawyer George Forti and Dr. Pefela Gildas (Magistrate) serving as panel of judges.
At the end of a vigorous debate, Mr. Bright Mumuni-Aziz was declared first runner up to Mr. Lesley Njwe of Rwanda as winner and Ikpenyi Micheal of South Africa placing third.
The winners were awarded various sums of scholarship packages.
