Prof. Goski Alabi Champions African Higher Education at EAIE 2025 Conference in Gothenburg

The 35th Annual Conference of the European Association for International Education (EAIE) brought together over 7,000 higher education professionals in Gothenburg, Sweden, under the theme “Go-Create.”

Prof. Goski Alabi, Acting Vice Chancellor of Accra Metropolitan University (Accra Met), represented both Accra Met and the African Network for Internationalization of Education (ANIE). Together with OBREAL, the two institutions co-hosted a stand at the Study & Research in Africa Pavilion, showcasing opportunities in African higher education and research.

Key Highlights

Global Visibility: Accra Met and ANIE gained strong exposure through the Africa Pavilion, engaging with universities, funding bodies, and global partners.

Networking: New partnerships were initiated with European universities and alliances, with discussions around joint research, mobility schemes, and co-created academic programmes.

Trends in Focus: Sessions spotlighted flexible mobility, micro-credentials, blended learning, and equitable partnerships — areas where African institutions can play a leading role.

Opportunities Ahead: EU frameworks such as Erasmus+ and Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions presented tangible avenues for African institutions to access funding, researcher exchanges, and collaborative projects.
