TOGETHER WE STAND; DIVIDED WE FALL BY STACY AMEWOYI
It is but a normal saying, always running in our mouths, yet it is better said than done. We all want to live in peace, wishing there were no casualties. Though we do not want to make the world a bitter place, there are things we do, that breaches the peace we all wish for.
No sounded minded person I believe, will wake up from sleep, determined to make another person’s life miserable but our utterances, behaviors, thoughts and actions etc. affects the livelihoods of others.
Most of these negative vibes are derived from homes where there is no proper parenting or over pampering. Homes where both parents are picky, busy or unconcerned.
The picky, selects the type of friends their kids should roll with, the busy aren’t available to give advice on how to treat the other fellow as human, for the unconcerned they don’t want to be a part of their children’s lives at all.
Children are indeed gifts from God. He, in His infinite wisdom makes every child innocent, and as such ready to grasp everything that is taught them. So if a picky parent teaches her child to be picky, he grows as such.
The child with busy parent who lacks parental advice will bully or maltreat others. For the unconcerned child, carelessness appears all round with wickedness taking a greater part.
70% of children from these three homes, in most instances take the reins of leadership in our societies. Their influence and affluence affects so many lives bringing out the worst in people.
Take a child, from every local environment in this world, no matter their tribe, language, color of their skin or where they come from and put them all in one room.
They will be found as a team, playing together and supporting each other. Except they are taught otherwise, they will work together to solve every problem given to them.
Until parents accept that, so much of the wrongdoings on the grounds today are all their fault, there is no better world to live in. There will always be superiority, class and riches, separating us all, which will cause division and at worst murder.
Until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned, there wouldn’t be peace. Until there’s no longer first class and second class citizens of any nation; the color of a man’s skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes, the unity we seek will continue to delude us.
We have to come into total sanity that, human rights should equally be guaranteed to all without regards to race. Our dream of lasting peace, world citizenship, rule of international morality will remain in fleeting illusions, never to be pursued or attained, if future leaders and adults don’t put in the needed efforts.
The key word for the needed effort is unity. When we are able dissolve the differences of divisions, and see ourselves as human beings coming together as one, then we know we shall win as we are confident in the victory of good over evil.
If the world need people of courage and conviction it is now. There is a major crisis of what is right and what is wrong. We are forgetting that we need each other, to look out for each other.
It’s one world, yet a very small one. We need each other that, if we don’t learn to love and respect ourselves, we don’t live at all. We either drown or keep doing the same things repeatedly, causing stagnation to our growth.
Let’s forget the things that we think are important but actually are not, and have the courage to speak up when we should, without feeling inferior or being undermined by others.
We need to go back to being the children of the world again, we need to go back to believe in love, faith, kindness and in caring for our neighbors in a way that together we can find the solutions to the world.
We need to understand that not a single one of us is an island to himself but every one of us hold a piece of what is required to build the right world where we can all survive.
Whether you’re a business or career person or someone who is working in whatever field, we have one home and we share it together. We either protect it or fight for it.
In fighting the world together, we fight for ourselves. In building a better future, we build a better future for our children. It’s a small world, too small for division, but more than what some people think, is what you can think.
How you can dare to think and determine what is right and how you have the courage and audacity to stand up and fight for what is right; how you can look the neighbor in the eye no matter where they come from, and think of what is in their interest as well as what is in yours makes you human.
Do bear in mind that, no matter how smart you are, you are not smart enough to survive by yourself. No matter how rich you are, your wealth alone cannot keep you alive and safe. We all need one another, and understanding that, brings us to the fact that, this is our home, and it’s a home we must protect.
So far so good, we still living today but we don’t know what tomorrow brings. People die like flies every day. We read about it in the news but you don’t believe it.
Most of these people’s death are premature from the stigma of being poor or having a skin color. They die due to hunger and poverty when a family member of these victims do not even give crumps to their dogs.
Enough of seeing people suffer, enough of infringing on the rights of people you know can’t do anything to you. Stop the evil fun and have your glory won on a clean sheet.
Treat others as you want to be treated, that is humanity. Always stay glued to the fact that, the person you’re harming today, is as flesh and blood as you are and the future we are all uncertain about comes with lots of surprises.
The world can crumple with division and hatred, therefore choose to make it a better place through better living, good behavior and good parenting
