Experience African Dance Rhythms Special Drumming Workshop

On April 4, 2025, Positive Community Connections (PCC) will host an exciting and vibrant event, African Dance Rhythms, a special workshop dedicated to exploring the rich traditions of Ghanaian music, dance, and storytelling. This unique hands-on experience will immerse participants in traditional and recreational Ghanaian drum rhythms, along with the dances and songs that bring them to life.
The event will be led by African Dance Rhythms, an organization renowned for its expertise in African drumming and cultural education. The workshop offers attendees a rare opportunity to dive into the rhythmic and energetic world of West African music. Participants will learn to play traditional drumming patterns, which have been passed down through generations, and experience how these rhythms are integral to the cultural fabric of Ghana.
In addition to drumming, the workshop will also feature traditional Ghanaian dances and songs. These dances are often performed alongside drumming in many African ceremonies and celebrations. By engaging in these movements, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the cultural significance behind the rhythms. Storytelling will also be a key component, as African drums often tell stories, convey emotions, and communicate messages within the community.
