Only essential travel should be undertaken to China – Foreign Affairs Ministry warns

the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has appealed to the general public to take necessary precautions when travelling to China.

As much as possible, the Ministry said, only essential travel should be undertaken until further notice.

Following the situation in Chain, the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has also revised its Covid-19 guidelines for the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) to come into force effective Friday, January 6.

According to the updated guidelines, all passengers arriving from China will be required to present a valid negative Covid-19 PCR test result 48 hours prior to departure from originating country.

“In addition, such passengers will be required to undergo mandatory Covid-19 testing on arrival at the Kotoka International Airport at no cost.”

Passengers arriving from countries other than China will be required to present a valid negative Covid-19 PCR test result 48 hours prior to departure from originating country if they are partially vaccinated or unvaccinated.

They will also undergo a mandatory testing at no cost.

Airlines have also been warned not to bring in passengers from China who have not been fully vaccinated and without a valid negative Covid-19 PCT test result.
