Josey’s Health Corner Marks Six Years of Transforming Lives Through Health Advocacy

Josey’s Health Corner is celebrating six years of community service and impact with a renewed commitment to empowering young people, promoting preventive healthcare and supporting vulnerable members of society through its latest initiative, “Mind Strong – Building Minds for the Future.”

The initiative, which forms part of the organisation’s 6th Anniversary celebration, is aimed at creating meaningful opportunities for young people while extending support to vulnerable widows in the Northern Region of Ghana.

For the past six years, Josey’s Health Corner has worked to improve the health and wellbeing of underserved communities through health education, advocacy, preventive healthcare, community outreach and free health screening. Its work has resulted in 16 community projects, reaching approximately 1,481 people, comprising 687 males and 794 females.

The organisation’s interventions have reached people across schools, churches, orphanages, prisons and communities, demonstrating its commitment to taking healthcare education and social support directly to the people who need them most.

Through Mind Strong – Building Minds for the Future, Josey’s Health Corner is expanding its focus beyond physical health to address the broader factors that influence the wellbeing and future prospects of young people.

The programme will support 200 students of Tamale School of Business with practical education in leadership, personal development, financial literacy, career guidance, mental wellbeing and healthy living. The initiative seeks to give young people the knowledge and confidence to make responsible decisions, understand their potential and prepare meaningfully for the future.

At a time when young people face increasing pressure in their education, personal lives and preparation for the world of work, the organisation believes that equipping them with the right knowledge and support is essential to building stronger individuals and communities.

The programme will also extend its impact to vulnerable widows through the Widows Embrace component, which will provide support to 100 widows. Health screening and education will further form part of the initiative, ensuring that the programme remains closely connected to Josey’s core mission of promoting healthier lives.

The organisation is inviting businesses, institutions, development partners, philanthropists and individuals to support the initiative through financial, material, technical or logistical contributions. Such support will help provide educational materials, health screening, medical supplies, widow support and other resources required to successfully implement the programme.

The organisation’s journey over the past six years demonstrates the power of community centred initiatives in addressing health and social challenges. From providing health education and screening to supporting vulnerable groups, Josey’s Health Corner continues to position itself as a partner in building healthier and more empowered communities.

The Mind Strong initiative therefore represents another significant step in that journey, placing young people at the centre of the conversation while ensuring that vulnerable members of society are not left behind.
