VODEC Africa address job market challenges with Entrepreneur and Career Fair Summit


VODEC Africa, a non-governmental organization that focuses on empowering African youths in entrepreneurship and career development, held a summit 6th March 2023: the aim was to assist young entrepreneurs actualize their dreams. The summit, which took place at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly conference center under the theme “Harnessing and exploiting the 21st Century Economic Opportunities in Entrepreneurship and Career Development “ drew together participants from across the country.

The Entrepreneurship and Career Fair Summit provided a fertile ground for experience sharing, blending concepts, and insightful deliberation. The summit provided opportunities for a networking forum, with entrepreneurs gaining an avenue to meet investors and industries to market their brands.

The summit provided a platform for attendees to hear from experienced entrepreneurs, government agencies and non-profit organization leaders, who shared their successes and failures in their quest for fulfillment, and also exposed them to emerging opportunities in their respective fields. The guest speakers inspired attendees with their remarkable stories of visionary entrepreneurship and impact on the society, encouraging them to be resilient in the face of difficulties, persistent in their efforts, and creative in their solutions. They also gave practical advice on using social media to promote businesses, identifying niche markets, and the importance of teamwork in achieving set goals.

Speaking at the event , Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Hon. Elizabeth Naa Kwatsoe Tawiah Sackey
said entrepreneurs must show perseverance and resilience. Starting a business is not an easy feat, and the journey can be riddled with setbacks and disappointments. Therefore, they must maintain a positive attitude and keep pushing forward.

She mentioned it is essential to be confident in pitching an idea or product. Entrepreneurs need to use every opportunity to make a memorable first impression.

Hon. Sackey encouraged upcoming entrepreneurs to stay committed and dedicated to their business .

The Founder and General Overseer of the Worldwide Miracle Outreach, Rev. Dr Lawrence Tetteh, however advised upcoming entrepreneurs to go beyond imagination and move from success to significance and to do that, we have to transform our mindset and serve humanity”.

He said entrepreneurs must apply discipline and also learn to network with other experienced entrepreneurs.

Entrepreneurially driven curriculums need to be infused in the education sector, and change needs to happen in educational institutions mindset, said Mr. Daniel Asomani , the founder of VODEC Africa. He stressed the need for such fairs and summits where entrepreneurs of different categories come together to interact, learn and grow through networking opportunities.

The summit featured notable speakers with years of experience, knowledge, and expertise such as Elder Ebenezer Acheampong (Serial Entrepreneur) , Aps. Dr. Christian Tsekpoe (Minister COP), Elder Felix Astrim (Entrepreneur Fedems ltd), Mr Patrick Mensah Nartey (CEO,PNM) Mad. Sophia Kudjordji (Communication specialist ,Jospong Group) and Mr Daniel T. Matolon(Impact Investor /Producer,USA)
